THE UNCOMMON Q&A
THE RIGHT QUESTIONS TO MENTOR YOU FORWARD IN YOUR CAREER
What is the most frightening aspect of changing careers
or jobs, especially in this economy?
(Top 5 answers below.)
At Palmiere Career Services, we know that looking for
the next right move in your career can be scary, especially in this economy.
We guide you through your own fears and old stories to help you create the
opportunities you want, in a career you can truly enjoy. We mentor you to build the most authentic and creative career possible. After
all, it's your livelihood and YOUR life.
- With the current economic downturn, and massive layoffs, we
are once again faced with unforeseen challenges and economic uncertainty.
The frightening part of changing careers is not knowing what to expect.
- The
biggest fear is that one won't find another job at all, let alone before
my funds are eaten up.
- Instability and 'waiting' in fear for the inevitable;
fear of the unknown, especially with the doom and gloom being spoken
about by the media and fear and doubt about whether you will gain new
employment to enable you to continue maintaining your obligations.
- Loss
of control of your own destiny.
- Right now, I see few places in our
economy or across the world, where one could go and say "Okay, now
I have some stability". The interconnected
nature of our global economy combined with the multi-industry aspect
of the current mess leaves very few places that have not or will not
be negatively impacted in some way. In other words, no safe place to
roost.
What do you consider the MOST important asset a job
candidate must obviously possess in their PERSONALITY?
(The most interesting
5 answers below.)
What we know, from the vast array of answers that we received to this question, is that at Palmiere Career Services, you will not be the right candidate for every position. We listen to your hopes and look closely at your unique set of credentials and character traits. Then we mentor you through the myriad of options available to you. YOU are your best asset. I am your objective mentor and guide through the process.
- Integrity.
- There isn't one most important asset that covers all candidates.
What you look for in a Sales Manager's personality may completely differ
from what you look for in a Janitor's personality. If you had to
nail me down to one answer then generically speaking their personality
should match the position they are applying for.
- A "can do" attitude.
The confidence within yourself that you have the ability to overcome
any situation or task no matter the level of difficulty.
- I think
the most important asset a job candidate must posses in their personality
is the ability to know when to relate on a personnel basis with there
manager and also to be able to carry that ability into the more professional
personality during an interview. In my experience 90% of why people
are hired are based on how well the candidate relates to the people
they will be working with and that will surpass the person who may
have a better background but less of a personality.
- Indefatigable optimism.
Enormous ego strength balanced by equivalent humility. Versatility,
passion and intelligence.
THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THERE ARE
NO EASY ANSWERS TO BUILDING YOUR FUTURE. BUT THERE
ARE DEFINITELY RIGHT QUESTIONS TO ASK AND CONSIDER.
